A thigh lift procedure is usually performed under sedation with local or general anesthesia, depending on the extent of the surgery. It is usually performed on an outpatient basis unless your surgeon advises otherwise. A variety of incision designs can meet the patient’s clothing needs or personal goals. Lifting the inner thighs requires incisions extending from the anterior part of the groin around to the buttock crease. Lifting the entire thigh and buttock (circumferential lower body lift) requires much longer incisions that start in the buttock crease, extend around the groin, up over the side of the abdomen, over the flank and across the back.
Additional procedures that may enhance the result:
Our board-certified plastic surgeons have more than 50 years of combined experience in all facets of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. As a qualified and compassionate team, they share a goal of providing a safe and rewarding plastic surgery experience while creating exceptional results worthy of your trust.
A thigh lift patient wears a compression garment (similar to a long-line elastic support girdle) after surgery to reduce swelling and assist in the natural shrinking and tightening of the skin. For small thigh lifts, initial discomfort is easily controlled with prescription pain medication. For larger thigh lifts, one or two nights in a hospital or skilled nursing facility is usually required. This allows for pain injections and intravenous catheters, if necessary.
Bruising and swelling usually subside within a month.Strenuous activities are usually possible within 6 weeks, and all symptoms are gone in 4 to 6 months.
