“As a mom of three, I bring more than surgical skill to the table–I bring lived experience. I know what it’s like to look in the mirror and wonder what it would feel like to change something. That personal lens shapes how I care for every patient.”

Special Clinical Interests & Surgical Approach

Dr. Primeau specializes in a full range of procedures that enhance the face, breasts, and body. As a top female plastic surgeon in Ann Arbor, some of her most highly requested procedures include:

Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)

A mother of 3 young children, Dr. Primeau has a passion for helping women restore confidence after pregnancy or weight changes through tummy tuck and combination mommy makeover surgery. She also offers advanced body contouring procedures tailored for women and men.

Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

During breast lifts, Dr. Primeau’s goal is to restore shape and position while maintaining a natural appearance that harmonizes with the rest of the body. She uses advanced techniques and a personalized approach to achieving youthful, perky breasts.

Fat Transfer

Fat transfer, or fat grafting, harvests a patient’s own fat using liposuction to enhance volume and contour. Dr. Primeau frequently performs fat grafting to the breasts for subtle augmentation and shape refinement. Fat transfer to the mid-face is her “secret weapon” for rebalancing facial features and addressing age- or weight-related volume loss, resulting in a soft, natural outcome.

Eyelid Rejuvenation

Rejuvenation around the eyes often requires a combination of surgical and nonsurgical approaches. Dr. Primeau develops customized treatment plans that may include eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), injectables, skin care, or resurfacing treatments to achieve refreshed, natural-looking results.

Rhinoplasty

Dr. Primeau takes a highly individualized approach to rhinoplasty, one of her favorite procedures, designing outcomes that balance facial features while preserving ethnic identity and authenticity—and boosting self-confidence.

An Exceptional, Patient-Centered Approach

Dr. Primeau prides herself on working as a true partner with her patients, offering personalized options rather than prescriptive solutions. She’s committed to guiding patients through decisions with clear communication, empathy, honesty, and medical precision.

Dr. Primeau and her team provide thorough, mindful care, with patient safety guiding every decision.

“I chose plastic surgery because I was drawn to improving my patients’ quality of life. I pride myself on my ability to work as a team with my patients to deliver truly personalized options and care.”
— Galina Primeau, MD

A Commitment to Innovation, Quality Improvement, & Access to Care

Dr. Primeau has played a leadership role in multiple quality improvement and health systems initiatives aimed at enhancing patient access, safety, and efficiency. She helped lead efforts to transition a major hospital system from paper-based to electronic surgical consent documentation, streamlining care delivery and reducing errors.

She was also actively involved in defining and tracking metrics for optimal telehealth use during the years following COVID-19. Recognizing the importance of patient education, Dr. Primeau implemented virtual breast reconstruction information sessions that expanded access to care and empowered patients to arrive at in-person consultations better prepared to communicate their goals and values.

Outside the Practice

Dr. Primeau is a first-generation immigrant from Russia and has called Michigan home since 1999. She speaks Russian fluently and values the role of communication and cultural understanding in patient care. Outside of medicine, she is an avid gardener and a devoted mother, wife, daughter, mentor, and friend. Dr. Primeau is also an enthusiastic “starter” of knitting and crocheting projects, which usually result in a completion rate of about 75 percent.
