Title: Lead Clinic & Surgical Advanced Practice Provider (APP)

Location: Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital – Reichert Medical Center, Ypsilanti, Michigan

Overview: The Center for Plastic Surgery Ann Arbor is seeking an experienced Clinical-Surgical Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to deliver exceptional patient care within our dynamic team. This role manages daily clinic and surgical responsibilities, leads surgical support staff, and ensures operational efficiency and a collaborative environment.

Leadership & Practice Management Responsibilities:

• Serve as clinical lead for the surgical and clinical RN and MA staff, coordinating day-to-day check-ins and performance growth measurement in conjunction with the Administrator and HR; escalate and collaborate on disciplinary matters through the appropriate administrative channels
• Coordinate surgical, clinical, and staff scheduling
• Coordinate across MDs, the Patient Representative, and surgical/clinical staff
• Participate in Executive Committee duties and meetings and attend Med Spa meetings. Schedule, attend, and oversee OOR Committee and Anesthesia Quarterly reviews.
• Coordinate and maintain Office Operating Room (OOR) policies and procedures
• Coordinate the annual QUAD-A (office operating room) accreditation process:

–Divide and assign accreditation sections to staff

– Ensure completeness and timely submission

– Confirm staff engagement and compliance

• Assist with ordering clinic and surgical supplies

Clinical & Surgical Care Responsibilities:

Patient Care-

• Manage the full continuum of patient care from initial consultation through recovery
• Perform good-faith exams for medical spa treatments and aesthetic procedures
• Conduct pre-operative assessments and post-operative follow-up visits
• Provide patient education and pre- and post-operative instructions
• Review lab results prior to surgery and order diagnostic tests as needed
• Manage medication changes and prescribe under physician supervision
• Perform direct patient care per established protocols (dressing changes, suture and drain removal, etc.)
• Provide phone triage for patients’ medical questions (e.g., prescription refills)

Surgical Support-

• Assist the surgeon during surgical procedures (anesthesia and local cases)
• Circulate, prep, and recover patients as needed (including backup coverage and breaks/lunches), assisting with OR preparation and post-surgical cleanup
• Coordinate with the nursing team on pre-surgical patient calls
• Orient to and assist with instrument sterilization and case preparation as needed
• Depending on capacity, need, and experience, the APP may have opportunities to perform select aesthetic procedures

Shared Administrative Duties-

• Take clinical photographs as needed
• Accurately document and update patient records in the EMR
• Collaborate with medical support staff to prioritize clinical tasks and ensure efficient workflow
• Participate in team meetings

Qualifications

Required-

• PA-C or Nurse Practitioner; graduate of an accredited program
• Current, appropriate board certification, maintained
• 5+ years of experience as an APP
• Clinical and surgical experience
• Current APP licensure in the State of Michigan
• Controlled substance license in the State of Michigan
• DEA / narcotic licensure in the State of Michigan
• DEA registration certification
• BLS certification
• Managerial/Supervisory experience
• No sanctions on any type of licensure
• EMR experience
• Sound computer skills: EMR, word processing, spreadsheets, email

Preferred-

• ACLS certification
• Scrub / first-assist experience in the OR
• NexTech EMR experience specifically
• Cosmetic surgery and/or med spa experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Sound clinical patient care experience and OR skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and organizational capability
• Advanced clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice to guide patient encounters and care
• Solid understanding of patient health and safety standards
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients in a manner that protects confidentiality and is sensitive to cultural, physical, emotional, and spiritual needs
• Strong technical/clinical skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Pay: $120,000.00 – $150,000.00 per year
